Ice Cream Sandwich Android Release: Specs for Android-Powered HTC Ville Leaked Online

The specs of a brand new HTC handset, HTC Ville (its apparent code name), which is powered by the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, leaked Tuesday, offering a first look at the smartphone which will not be unveiled officially until the spring of 2012.

The phone will be powered by the brand new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and, for the first time, HTC Sense 4.0, Boy Genius Report revealed Wednesday.

The handset is to feature a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, house an 8-megapixel backside-illuminated camera with 1080p HD video capture support and a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon Series 4 processor.

The phone is not expected to feature a NFC system, which would allow for simplified transactions, data exchange and wireless connections between two devices in proximity to each other, due to the metal construction of the case.

The device will be 8mm thick, rumor has it. It will be a HSPA+ device powered by a 1,650 mAh battery and with Beats audio processing.

The phone is supposed to be announced officially during the Mobile World Congress 2012, alongside the HTC Edge phone, according to speculation from observers.

HTC's upcoming Edge smartphone may be the world's first handset to feature a quad-core processor, as The Chrisitan Post reported Tuesday. The smartphone might take the spot of the Galaxy Nexus, formally known as the Nexus Prime, and solidify itself as one of the first smartphones to have a quad-core processor.

The Edge is expected to also feature a 4.7-inches screen (compared to the Nexus's 4.65-inch screen) with a 720p display, 1 GB of RAM, 8-megapixel backlit camera, and a AP30 Tegra 3 Nvidia central processing unit, which doubles the processing power of the Rezound. Other features are to include Beats by Dre, audio tech, Bluetooth 4.0, and 32 GB of internal memory.
