Ice Cream Sandwich Used on Only 2.9 Percent of Android Devices
Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich is now being used on 2.9 percent of all Android devices, according to the latest figures from the Android development blog.
The software's presence is up about 2 percent from February when it was only on one percent of all Android devices.
This number is extremely disappointing since Ice Cream Sandwich originally launched back in Nov. of last year and unifies the code for both smartphones and tablets making it compatible with every type of device.

Android 2.3, Gingerbread is still the most popular Android platform accounting for almost 63 percent of all users.
The second most popular would be Android 2.2, Froyo that is used by 23.1 percent of all Android device owners.
And Android 3.0/3.1 Honeycomb has less than Ice Cream Sandwich with just a little over two percent of users having the software on their devices.
Major upgrades for popular devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 began rolling out last month so the 2 percent jump in the software's presence on Android devices can largely be attributed to this since the Galaxy S2 is arguably the most popular Android device in the world.
However, those upgrades have been quite slow as they have not yet arrived to the U.S. The update is expected to launch here sometime soon.
Other smartphone makers such as HTC and Motorola have announced that ICS upgrades for their devices will be coming soon. There are many popular Android handsets that have not been issued an official upgrade. Google seems to be taking its time.
Android 4.0, ICS is arguably the best and most complex Android software ever released. It launched on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus back in November. The Nexus was the flagship device for it.
