Idina Menzel, Neil Patrick Harris, Sting and More to Perform at 2014 Tony Awards
The 68th Annual Tony Awards this year boast a number of top performers including Idina Menzel and Neil Patrick Harris.
Menzel, who offered her vocals in Disney's hit film "Frozen," will be taking the stage alongside Harris, Alan Cumming, Fantasia, Knight, Sting, and Patti La Belle, among many others. This year's Tony nominee, Menzel will perform a song from the new musical "If/Then."
Moreover, Cummings will perform a song from the revival of "Cabaret" which earned him a Tony Award while LaBelle, Knight and "American Idol" alum Fantasia will join the cast of "After Midnight." Sting is slated to perform a song from his upcoming musical, "The Last Ship." Other performers announced Thursday were Sutton Foster with the cast of "Violet" as well as the cast of "Wicked" to celebrate the show's 10th anniversary, according to The Wrap.
Also, this year's Best Musical and Best Musical Revival nominees will perform. Among the many shows that will be highlighted during the awards show include "Aladdin," "Les Miserables," "Beautiful: The Carole King Musica," "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder," "Bullets Over Broadway," and "Rocky."
While Harris has served as the host of the Tony's for the past several years, the "How I Met Your Mother" star is taking the stage as a performer this year. Instead, Hugh Jackman is hosting the awards show this year, and the actor voiced his excitement on Twitter early on.
"Couldn't wait another minute… @TheTonyAwards @cbs #4thTime #Broadway #TheTonyAwards," he wrote on Feb. 11.
Jackman is hosting the show for the fourth time this year. The actor won the 2004 best actor in a musical Tony for "The Boy From Oz," and he has remained a beloved figure in the Broadway community.
The Tony Awards air on CBS live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on June 8.
