'Injustice 2' Patch News: NetherRealm Adding Atom As DLC Fighter

"Injustice 2" is getting another Marvel character to add to its ever growing roster of superheroes and supervillains. Atom is set to join the fighting game's already rowdy bunch and will arrive in the Fighter Pack 3 DLC (downloadable content).

The new character was revealed during the finale of "Chasing the Cup: Injustice 2" on The CW. The episode offered fans a glimpse of the subatomic shrinker when it was aired on Tuesday in the US.

The character was one of the first superheroes of the Silver Age of comic books and made his debut back in 1961. Throughout the comics' run, a number of people have taken on the title of Atom along with his size-based abilities.

Among the many characters who have had the honor of bearing the superhero's name, the version of Atom that will be coming to "Injustice 2" will be that of Ryan Choi. Choi is the fourth incarnation of the character and is described as "a young hotshot professor" who's filling the extra spot on Ivy University's teaching staff.

An announcement video will soon follow the teaser video and will be arriving "soon." Gameplay video of the character has been released however, and it reveals what fans need to know about the character.

In the video, Atom was shown changing quickly from a regular, human-sized form to a tiny, atomic size and growing to the size of a small building. In conjunction to his size, he is able to either deliver a flurry of quick attacks in his atomic form or a huge, powerful attack in his biggest form.

In his subatomic form, all players can see is a tiny blue streak showing Atom's location as he delivers a devastating flurry of attacks which definitely punch above their weight. The gameplay footage didn't reveal the character's super move however, but fans will likely get a glimpse of it when the DLC is released.

"Injustice 2" is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS platforms.
