Instagram Testing Business Profiles, Teases Three New Profile Features

Good news for all Instagram users. Doing business in the mobile photo and video-sharing platform is going to be more convenient soon for both the customers and the brand. It may not be fresh news to some anymore as it has already been confirmed in a previous report by Recode that the Facebook-owned app was working on developing business profiles.

It's no surprise either that Instagram is heading to this direction as it is only following the footsteps of its parent which is already big when it comes to promoting brands and businesses. And now, Instagram has just flaunted its own version of a business profile. As detailed in a post in the Later blog, it says that Instagram is testing three new profile features that can make a user's bio appear like a Facebook page.

The first one is the "Contact" button which is strategically placed beside the "Following" button, allowing visitors of the profile to conveniently connect with the business. Clicking the button also pops out two options which include "Get Directions" and "Email." Entrepreneurs usually put in their email address in the bio, which can be at risk for spamming. With the new button, customers can send in their inquiries or orders while the business owner's email is protected.

The second feature that Instagram may be adding soon is the "Location" tag. When viewers clink the link, they will be able to view the location of the business on the map. This will make it easier for customers to find the physical store of the businesses. The last but not the least is the category. Businesses can vary from restaurants to jewelry to clothing to services. With a category feature placed underneath the name in the Instagram profile, visitors can already have an idea of what the business or account is all about.

Tech Portal noted that as of the current, the new business profile is not available for everybody to use and view yet. Because it is still in the testing stage, it's only available for a handful of corporations. Entrepreneurs or businesses will have to stay tuned for updates on when they may possibly be able to take advantage of this new addition in Instagram.
