iOS 6 Jailbreak Untethered Coming to iPhone 5 Soon (PHOTO)

The iOS 6 untethered jailbreak should be coming for iPhone 5 users in the near future.

Chronic Dev developers recently posted up a picture that showed its progress while attempting to fully jailbreak the latest Apple smartphone.

In the image, an abundance of unauthorized widgets can be seen in the pull-down notification bar on the iPhone 5. These types of widgets can only be accessed when the device is unlocked.

Chronic Dev also described its progress.

"I would characterize it more as finding the missing pieces rather than debugging at this stage. Typically the messiest part of the jailbreak process has been installing it in the first place," said Chronic Dev.

"We're further along that WWJC. But again, I can't give any specifics. The jailbreak itself is stable but we're missing needed exploits. I can't discuss what we're missing," concluded Chronic Dev.

An iOS 6 Jailbreak for iPhone 5 surfaced in images showing the device running it in September.

The pictures were released by Grant Paul, who provided a string of screen grabs on Twitter that showcase what appears to be Cydia installed on iOS 6. However, the authenticity in the pictures cannot be determined, according to YouMobile.org.

Paul claims the jailbreak took 30 minutes to perform and that it was easier to use on the iPhone 5 than on the 4S.

An iOS 6 jailbreak for iPhone 4 users is also now available.

The iPhone Dev-Team's Redsn0w jailbreak is now compatible with iOS 6 on several devices including the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the fourth generation iPod Touch.

This jailbreak is tethered, which means that the procedure has to be repeated every time an Apple device needs a reboot.

This redsn0w jailbreak was first released back in June when Apple made iOS 6 available to all developers. Unfortunately it did not work on the iPhone 4S and still has not been made compatible with the handset after the official build rolled out to Apple users yesterday.
