iOS 9.1 Features Always-On Siri and New Set of Emoji

Apple fans will surely be delighted with the newly rolled out iOS 9.1 that now features always-on Siri and a new set of emoji for messages.

Aside from the new emoji and always-on Siri, another new feature of the iOS 9.1 is its support for Unicode 7 and 8. Now, iPhone and iPad users can choose from among a variety of new fun emoji to attach to messages, according to the Irish Examiner.

With the new always-on Siri, users can activate Apple's virtual assistant anytime by just saying the words "Hey, Siri." This feature is similar to the activation of Google's own voice assistant with the greeting "Okay, Google," the report relays.

Another update worth celebrating is that more users from other places can now access Apple News. This is Apple's own curated news feed that sources content from different sites and publications, the report details.

The updated iOS 9.1 will also be a delight for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus because it also includes an update to Live Photos. With the update, the iPhone can now sense when it is moved upward or downward to prevent unnecessary movements from being saved.

In addition, the updated OS includes patches to several bugs. There is now a fix for a glitch in the Notification Center, which allows message notifications to pop up on the lock screen even when it is disabled. The update also has a fix for a bug in OpenGL, which corrupts the device's memory, The Inquirer Reports.

Those who want to update their mobile operating system to iOS 9.1 just need to go to the Settings of their iPhone and enter the options General, then tap Software Update. They can also install the update via iTunes.

iOS 9.1 made its debut in September and the first update is now available for the iPhone 4s and succeeding models, all iPad minis, the fifth-gen iPod touch, and the iPad 2 and above.
