iPhone 5 Release Set for October According to Newest Source

The iPhone 5, which had been rumored for a late September release, is actually going to drop sometime in October according to John Paczkowski at the AllThingsD blog on the Wall Street Journal’s digital network.

AllThingsD claims to have a source familiar with Apple’s plans who informed them that the recent rumors for a September release are false, stating that consumers should be prepared for an “October surprise” release instead.

According to tech website 9to5 Mac the AllThingsD blog has a track record for having the right information about things pertaining to Apple.

The September release rumors stemmed from sources close to the situation claiming AT&T had blacked-out employee vacations during the last two weeks of September in preparation for the iPhone 5 release.

But the new source tells AllThingsD that they were misinformed.

“I don’t know why AT&T is calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,” said the source.

9to5 Mac stated that they received insider information last month that AT&T was making big changes to its insurance policies related to iPhones in the first week of October along with introducing a new throttle policy on October 1st as well. This would lead anticipators of the device to believe these preparations and changes were being made to accommodate a new device of the iPhone 5’s caliber.

However, the source who spoke to AllThingsD seems to stand firm that the iPhone 5 will be released in October with other sources telling the blog that it will probably drop later on in the month.

According to 9to5 Mac this could still mean an event will happen in September where the iPhone 5 is announced with an October shipping date.

The site claim with all the different conflicting rumors and leaks, it is hard to tell which one is most accurate.

There also remains a possibility that Apple will release two iPhones in the fall, one successor to the iPhone 4 and another cheaper prepaid model.
