iPhone 5 Release Date: Apple 'iCloud', 'Find My Devices' and 'Find My Friends' Specs Revealed

Apple has announced that the highly anticipated iCloud will launch on Oct. 12 along with some special features, and will coincide with the “Find My Devices” and “Find My Friends” features.

The iCloud will link all of your Apple products together. If a picture is taken on your Mac, it will appear on your iPad, iPhone, and iPod.

Steve Jobs spoke about these devices over the summer, but today they were addressed extensively by Eddy Cue, Apple's iTunes/iCloud chief.

Find My Devices was formerly called Find My Phone, and is able to pinpoint a lost or stolen iOS device anywhere on the map. Actual Mac computers will be added to this soon.

The iTunes Match service and Find My Friends are going to be newly available apps with the Match going live at the end of October in the U.S. and shortly after released internationally.

Cue told the crowd at the Apple tech fair that the iTunes Match will be able to stream music and has intelligence built within the device.

iOS devices were originally designed for the iPhone, now encompasses the brains of the iPad and iPod Touch.

iOS is used 61 percent of the time for mobile browsing.

In addition to the mobile browsing, the iOS is responsible for the domination of the Apps from the app store.

The iOS 5 will feature a camera update where the user can edit photos right on their device without having to use a third party program or app and will include a feature for panorama shots.

It will have a gamecenter with 67 million users already signed up, and tabbed browsing for Safari and Reader.

There are 500,000 apps with 140,000 built specifically for the iPad. The numbers are staggering with 18 billion apps downloaded since the iPhone inception, with a steady increase of 1 billion per month.

It will be available for free download on Oct. 12.
