iPhone 5 Release Date: Apple Launches First Official GMail App for Free
Google has released a new Gmail app for Apple users. The new app will work on iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch devices that run iOS 4.0 or higher.
Until today, no official app for Gmail had been made for the apple devices. In a blog post, Google said: "We've combined your favorite features from the Gmail mobile web app and iOS into one app so you can be more productive on the go. It's designed to be fast, efficient and take full advantage of the touchscreen and notification capabilities of your device. And it's one more reason to switch to Gmail."
The app has an option for push notifications and for sounds to notify of new emails. Users can search their entire inbox with the app and autocomplete contacts.

Users can also archive, label, star, delete and report spam from the app.
"Pull down your inbox to rapidly refresh if you're eager for new mail, swipe right to view your labels without ever leaving your inbox, [and] swiftly scroll through dozens of emails just by sliding your finger," Google said.
The app, released today, is available for free in the App Store.
Google has also launched its new design for its e-mail service Gmail yesterday. Users will be prompted to switch to the new Gmail design over the next few days. The new design will eventually become the default design. Everything from Google reader to Google Calendar will come together visually under the new design.
