Verizon sold 2 million iPhone units in the September quarter, according to a recent announcement made by the carrier.

This news comes from a report which reveals that Verizon partnered with UK multinational mobile network operator Vodafone sold this amount of iPhones which represents a 300,000 units decline compared to the June quarter.

It also puts Verizon behind its biggest rival AT&T who reported that it sold 2.7 million iPhones in this quarter out of a total of 4.8 million devices.

Apple reported that it sold 4 million iPhone 4S units in the first three days of its release.

It has been the most successful iPhone launch to date for the company who just lost its founding father with the passing of the late great tech innovator Steve Jobs.

Verizon was the first other carrier aside from AT&T to make the iPhone available to its subscribers.
