iPhone 6 Plus vs Nexus 6 Comparison: Review of Specs, Price - Battle Between iOS8 and Android 5.0 Lollipop

Apple's release of the iPhone 6 family September this year was one of the biggest releases this year when it comes to the smartphone market. Nonetheless, the release of the Motorola Nexus 6 was just as big as the iPhone 6, with its big screen, high-end specs, and latest Google Android Lollipop. But just which of the two phones are stronger?

First, a run down of the spec-sheets. First up is the bigger of the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus.

The Plus has a 5.5-inch touchscreen with a full HD display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels backed by a Retina display. The Nexus 6 on the other hand has a 5.96-inch touchscreen with a QHD display resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. With respect to display size and resolution, the Nexus 6 wins over the iPhone 6 Plus.

Next, the iPhone 6 Plus sports the new 64-bit A8 chipset with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU. The Nexus 6 on the other hand has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with a quad-core 2.7GHz processor and an Adreno 420 GPU.

On paper, the Nexus 6 is more powerful than the iPhone 6 but with both sporting a 64-bit chip, either can play graphic extensive games and can multitask without much problems.

The iPhone 6 Plus runs on Apple's latest mobile OS, the iOS 8 while the Nexus 6 runs on Google's own latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Both operating systems come with the device out-of-the-box. While both OS are experiencing problems in porting to other compatible devices, the native devices don't seem to have much problems. Both phones tie out in this aspect.

While the iOS and Android market have its own loyal string of followers, newcomers to the market might be tempted with the Nexus 6's more powerful hardware and much bigger screen. Both handsets come with a hefty price however with the Nexus 6 priced at around $650 and the iPhone 6 Plus at $950 (128GB model).
