iPhone 6C Release Date, Specs News: Simultaneous Launch With iPhone 6S and 6S Plus?

Rumors have emerged the iPhone 6c may have a concurrent launch with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus next month.

The anticipation for Apple's launch of its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been accompanied by rumors the Cupertino, California tech giant will be simultaneously launching the iPhone 6c, as well.

The launch event set for September 9 is expected to showcase the new Apple TV, and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It is also reported to be the stage Apple will use to introduce the successor to the iPhone 5c.

Renowned tech leakster, Evan Blass of the Evleaks fame claimed over Twitter the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be accompanied by the smaller and more affordable iPhone 6c, making the trio's introduction Apple's largest iPhone unveiling yet.

However, mobile marketing tech provider Fiksu, who has been tracking copies of devices carrying the "iPhone 8,1" and "iPhone 8,2" identifiers in the U.S., Brazil, and Germany, claims they haven't spotted any indications in its traffic logs pointing towards signs the iPhone 6c undergoing testing in preparation for its launch. It further intimated the 6c's release is likely to be in 2016 instead.

While Fiksu's information does not totally discount the possibility the iPhone 6c will be making an appearance during the September 9 launch, it does lower the chances of such an event occurring.

Based on other rumors emerging about the iPhone 6c, it will sport a 1,715mAh battery larger than the iPhone 5s', and will be introduced with a 4-inch display and a host of new colors.

Images of the affordable handset also leaked last month, showing the phone's screen panels, and suggesting the presence of Force Touch technology as well as a chassis thicker by 0.2mm.

While Apple has shed no light on the rumors, its smartphone users will just have to wait until the Sept. 9 unveiling to confirm the speculations on the upcoming flagship handsets.
