iPhone 7S to reportedly sport Samsung's OLED display
When it comes to up and coming smartphones, nothing is more highly anticipated than a new version of the Apple iPhone. And just like the previous ones, the next in line, which is reportedly going to be named iPhone 7S, isn't due until September, but rumors are already in about the most substantial improvement to date – its screen.
There are rumors coming from multiple sources online claiming that the new edition of the best-selling smartphone is expected to be sporting an OLED display, which if it there is any truth to it, means that Apple finally decides to ditch the traditional LCD screen.
What's even more interesting is that OLED technology that Apple plans to use in its new line of iPhones will come from its fiercest rival, South Korean electronics giant Samsung. The displays will be supplied by Samsung in a deal that reportedly will cost around $2.5 billion for a device that should hit the markets by 2017.

This actually isn't something new for both companies since they've been involved in similar deals before. But this one is going to be one of the biggest, with Samsung to supply about a 100 million 5.5-inch OLED screens.
The term is a shortcut for Organic Light Emitting Diode, which is considered as the most advanced display used in smartphones and tablets today. As a matter of fact, several technology companies already have abandoned LCD in favor of OLED since it gives a much better output and display. The greatest advantage of the OLED display is the fact that it no longer needs LED backlighting, something that LCD still requires. So without LED backlighting, the product becomes a bit thinner.
With the huge order of OLED screens from Apple, Samsung is likely going to be using an exclusive facility for their production to meet the demand on time.
