iPhone X Drop Test Videos Reveal How Easily Apple's Latest Smartphone Cracks

The iPhone X may have a great look, but fans who purchase Apple's newest smartphone should also invest in a case.

Some people opt to use their smartphones without any case because of the design, but drop tests reveal that the iPhone X's glass breaks all too easily. A drop test conducted by CNET shows the iPhone X in Space Gray sporting visible cracks and scuffs when dropped from three feet, which is usually the distance from one's pocket to the floor. However, the smartphone still functioned.

A drop test conducted by EverythingApplePro compares two of Apple's latest smartphones: the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. The first few drops do not reveal much of a difference, and the stainless steel frame on the iPhone X was able to take the impact quite nicely. However, dropping both smartphones from a higher height resulted in greater damages. The back of the iPhone 8 shattered almost completely, but the iPhone X held up better than expected.

It seems the result of drop tests vary greatly, however, as one conducted by TechRax show the iPhone X's back glass cracking after just one drop. It was the second drop, screen side down, that really did a number on the iPhone X, though. After the drop, the screen was visibly cracked.

Because the iPhone X also has a glass back, fans have more to worry about than just the screen. The iPhone X is already very expensive, priced at a whopping $1,000, and getting the back glass replaced could cost $550. Replacing the screen also does not come cheap at $279.

Apple's 10th anniversary iPhone has certainly made headlines more than once due to its features and almost bezel-less screen. However, Apple fans also have to shell out a lot more for the expensive smartphone, especially if they are quite careless with their gadgets. In order to avoid damaging their iPhone X, owners should immediately purchase a case and screen protector.
