Jason Aldean's New Girlfriend is 'the Other Woman' to His Daughters
Jason Aldean is moving past the end of his marriage, but his two daughters are struggling to do the same, according to reports this week.
The country music star was married to his high school sweetheart Jessica Ussery for 12 years, but when photos of him kissing "American Idol" alum Brittany Kerr surfaced last year, it was clear the marriage was on the rocks. Seven months after the scandal broke, Aldean filed for a divorce from Ussery.
Today, the "Night Train" singer has taken his relationship with Kerr public, much to the chagrin of the daughters he shares with Ussery. Aldean and Ussery's daughters Keeley and Kendyl are aged 11 and 6, respectively.
"Jason is working Brittany into Kendyl and Keeley's lives, yet they see her as the other woman," a source close to Aldean revealed to Us Weekly. "It's hard. They're important to him."
Earlier this month, 37-year-old Aldean attended the CMT Awards alongside Kerr, 27, in their first public outing together. Moreover, the couple had been spotted dining together in recent months.
"It's tough for Jessica when [Keeley and Kendyl] have to spend time with Brittany," another insider told Us Weekly of the situation.
The mother of the two girls "just wants to protect them," the source added.
Despite the difficulty of the situation, the insider noted that Aldean is "a relationship guy."
"I can see him settling down with Brittany," the source noted.
Kerr, an aspiring model and singer, is a former cheerleader for the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats. She also appeared on season 11 of "American Idol." During the CMT Music Awards on June 4, Kerr appeared happy and relaxed posing beside Aldean wearing a form-fitting white dress with her blonde hair swept to the side. For his part, Aldean was casually clad in a cowboy hat, shirt and jeans.
