Jason Blum's 'The Purge 3: Election Year' release date moved

Fans of Jason Blum's "Purge" hit horror franchise will be happy to know that the release date for the film has been moved up by three days, and it will now be out in theaters on July 1. "The Purge: Election Year" is the next chapter to follow; another 12 hours of yearly lawlessness is up, one that the New Founders of America is actually encouraging. And Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) is back after two years, thankful he was able to keep himself then from acting on his vengeful feelings against the man who killed his son.

It is now the year 2025, and his new mission as the head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell) is to serve and protect her as she campaigns for the presidency and bring her out alive through the ritual that takes place every year, targeting the innocent. Sloan is the frontrunner in the presidential race, as she vows to eradicate the Purge after her family was murdered 15 years past, on a Purge night in 2010.

But they are betrayed by those from the government who secretly oppose her plans to destroy the Purge. So Barnes and Roan must now fend for themselves on a night when they will not be able to count on anyone but themselves for help. Somehow, they have to survive in the streets of D.C. until dawn, or else they will perish for their crimes against the state.
