After being held in captivity for 18 years Jaycee Dugard has given details of her dramatic story in her new book “A Stolen Life” which is set to be released Tuesday.

The memoir will be released in bookstores all across America on July 12th, and will talk openly about how Dugard was held captive by convicted sex offender, Phillip Garrido and his wife.

The book also goes on to discuss how Dugard was repeatedly raped by Garrido throughout her ordeal, and how she became the mother of two of his children.

Publishers Simon & Shuster has said in a publicity statement, “She opens up about what she experienced. The full story of her ordeal.”

Dugard was kidnapped from her California home by Phillip and Nancy Garrido in 1991 when she was just 11 years old. She was on her way to school when she suddenly felt “tingly and numb” after being hit by Phillip’s stun-gun.

Her abductors then “grabbed her and threw her into their car and laughed about her capture”, Dugard stated in an interview with ABC News Anchor, Diane Sawyer.

According to the Newser.com, parole officers sent to periodically check up on Garrido were unable to find his kidnap victim. It wasn’t until 2009, that a female Berkeley police officer became suspicious and the case broke open. The Garridos pleaded guilty last month to multiple charges related to the horrific kidnapping.

Dugard, now 31 expressed in an interview with Diane Sawyer that “she is happy to once again have the basic freedoms that most of us take for granted.”

Phillip Garrido is now in prison. He was sentenced to 431 years and sits on the same prison row as the infamous Charles Manson.
