Jessica Alba 'Self-Conscious' Before Having Children: 'What Was I Thinking?' Says Actress

Jessica Alba is no stranger to being in the limelight; after her success on "Sin City," her fame increased exponentially. However, in a new interview, Alba revealed that she had a great deal of self-consciousness about her body before having children with her husband, Cash Warren.

"I was a lot more critical of my body when it was probably pretty awesome," Alba admitted to Health magazine. "It's like, why did I not ever wear jean shorts? That's so crazy. I was so skinny! I didn't have any cellulite … what was I thinking?!"

In 2009, she was part of People magazine's "World's Most Beautiful People." She was photographed along with husband Cash Warren and spoke about her first pregnancy with daughter Honor Marie.

"Pregnancy is the most beautiful thing that can happen to you. Everything in my face is puffed up. I have the face of a teenager. I feel like I'm 16 again," Alba told People at the time.

Obviously pregnancy helped Alba gain more confidence in her appearance, even though she did not necessarily need it, judging from comments made by fans.

"I was more willing to wear short skirts after I had my kids," she told Health. "But I remember I was 28 or 29 at an MTV award thing, and my girlfriend Kelly was like, 'You should wear a short skirt, because you are not going to be this age forever.' Now I'm a lot more confident in my skin – because who cares? At the end of the day, it's so much time spent on something that really doesn't matter that much."

Instead, Alba is busy at work on several projects and enjoying raising her two daughters, Honor and Haven, with Warren. Family is very important to the actress and has helped ease her concerns about her appearance or image. One aspect of family life that Alba enjoys is feeding them fresh, organic, unprocessed food. In fact, Alba has written a book entitled "The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You."
