4 key moments from Joe Rogan's interview with JD Vance

Trans ideology a 'religious faith'?

After discussing the attempted assassinations on Trump's life, Rogan noted how much is still unknown about the first suspect, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, or his motive behind the shooting, which wounded two supporters and killed 50-year-old Comperatore.

"The only time we don't get a manifesto is when the shooter is [transgender],” said Rogan. “When they’re trans, they hide those manifestos.”

Vance replied with his view that trans ideology fueled the March 2023 shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, which left three children and three adults dead.

"The Nashville shooter, while we’re on the topic, went in and murdered a bunch of children at a Christian school because he or she, whatever, was motivated by some very radical trans ideology, and that's something we should talk more about as a country,” he said.

Rogan agreed, adding: “If it was any other ideology that led someone to mass murder, you would examine that ideology very carefully. If it was some sort of radical religion, people would be very concerned about that radical religion. And it is a radical religion of woke. It’s this weird idea that you are so virtuous and so correct that you're allowed to commit violence against other people because they’re these oppressors, even though they’re children."

After recounting his conversion to Catholicism — “was raised Christian, became an atheist, came back to Christianity, got baptized Catholic like five, six years ago” — Vance compared common signage associated with the political Left such as the popular “In this house we believe … ” to Catholic Mass, and compared “woke-ism” to a “religious faith.”

"There's almost a similar cadence between the Christian creed and what these guys are doing with this hyper-woke stuff. ... It absolutely is a religious faith.”
