Even before revealing that Bethel Music, the worship music artists coming out of the Bethel Church in Redding, California, has earned high placement in his iPod, Bieber has been vocal about his Christian faith.

Last June, the R&B singer posted an Instagram of a video with himself, Hillsong NYC Pastor Carl Lentz and Trinity Church Pastor Ron Wilkerson singing a worship song, "Awesome God."

He has also used the social media platform to express his faith, including one Instagram post last May where he quoted Psalms 43.

"Vindicate me, my god, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked. Psalms 43," Bieber wrote as a caption to him reading Pastor Lentz's book, Occupy All Streets. "I'm not religious nor do i think I have ANYTHING figured out that's why I call out on God to help me through what I can't do on my own."

In the post, Bieber went on to recognize how cool developing his relationship with God has become in his life.

"Developing my relationship with God has been the coolest thing I've experienced, to know that I'm not alone and I don't have to live in fear," the singer wrote. "Never feel like I'm pushing anything on u [sic] but sharing the good news I've felt in my own life."

In 2014, reports surfaced that Bieber was baptized by Lentz, the pastor who has become a mentor to other celebrities like NBA star Kevin Durant. The pastor previously opened up about his own relationship with Bieber, who has frequented his church on numerous occasions.

"I love Justin, he's a good kid. He's trying to figure this out," Lentz told CBN news last year. "With Justin, it's not my job to be his police officer. It's my job to be a friend to him, and that's all I am."

Last March, Bieber appeared on the cover of Men's Health magazine where he spoke about wanting to turn his life around, after getting into legal trouble for egging his neighbor's house.

"This has really been a big year for me, as far as figuring stuff out," Bieber previously told the publication. "This is almost like a full 180 from how I was. Yesterday, a year from yesterday, I was in jail."

Bieber came into the public eye as a global phenomenon at 13 years old, and spoke about why growing up in front of the world was no easy feat. Still, the pop star told the publication that it's important for him to maintain his "sense of purity."

"There's a part of me that I don't ever want to grow up," he told Men's Health. "I want to always remain ... to have that sense of purity inside of me where I don't ... I don't want to lose that sense of purity."
