Justin Bieber Selena Gomez Break-Up 'Expected,' Says Ex Step-Mom

While many of his fans are mourning Justin Bieber's relationship with Selena Gomez, the singer's former stepmother has said the split was only natural.

Erin Wagner said that her former stepson was going through a normal experience with the breakup, but because of Bieber's stardom, it may be harder.

"What he's going through is what an 18-year-old goes through," she explained while speaking to Celebuzz. "What's he's going through is expected as an 18-year-old. He's going to go through things that are not [of] the norm, because he's famous and also very normal."

Wagner was married to Bieber's father Jeremy, with whom she shares two children.

"If it's meant to be it will be," Wagner added of Bieber's romance with Gomez. "Justin has a lot of other things in his life to focus on, but we will support him in anything he does."

Bieber's ex step-mom was not the only person chiming in on the situation between him and the "Wizards of Waverly Place" star. On Twitter, fans of both Bieber and Gomez voiced their opinions about the split.

"I kinda like Justin and Selena together," wrote Morris.

Yen posted, "Just found out that Justin Bieber and Selena broke up… Sadness."

Meanwhile, the "Boyfriend" singer has been spotted at a Beverly Hills hotel with Gomez earlier this week, sparking rumors of their reconciliation.

Despite the rampant rumors, neither Bieber nor Gomez has commented on the status of their relationship.

"I don't know what's going on in my life," Bieber offered when asked about his personal life, according to Open House Party radio. "To even assess that, it doesn't make sense 'cause I have not made any comment."

His statement neither confirmed nor denied the break up with Gomez, 20.

In another ambiguous move, Bieber performed a cover of Justin Timberlake's famous break up ballad "Cry Me A River" during a concert in Boston on Saturday. It was not the first time the singer had covered the tune, but the performance suggested the end of Bieber's relationship with Gomez.
