Katie Couric on Kate Middleton: 'I Think She Needs to Eat More'

Katie Couric has interviewed high-profile celebrities from around the world and will continue to do so on her new talk show, "Katie," which premieres on Monday, Sept. 10. Couric has said she would love to interview Duchess Kate Middleton, but issued a warning that the royal is getting too thin.

"I think it would be really interesting to interview Kate Middleton because I think she has comported herself so well since she has been thrust in the limelight," Couric told Whitney English. "I think she needs to eat more because she's so thin."

As it stands, Couric will be interviewing Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez and Barbara Streisand. Not bad for a brand-new series. But Couric is determined to explore topics that are relevant not just to the country but to her as well. For example, Couric told English she would be talking about domestic violence, military suicides, and personal happiness.

"You know, I'm not happy all the time. Sometimes I'm lonely, sometimes I'm frustrated and self-critical like everyone else, but I think I've accepted that as hard as it is, you're not going to be happy 100 percent of the time," she explained.

What keeps Couric going during those down moments? Focusing in on something that makes her happy is the key.

"My biggest piece of advice is to find what works for you. For some women a demanding job and raising kids is just too difficult, their heart just isn't in it. I think you really have to look at yourself and find out what will make you happy," said the former news anchor.

Couric has also spoken about her time on CBS' Evening News, which brought her some pleasure but also helped her realize she wanted to do something different.

"I'm really proud of the work I did," she told Good Housekeeping magazine. "I had an ultimate sense of satisfaction, but I was not ambivalent about feeling this wasn't the place for me for the rest of my career. It wasn't the right environment for me. In terms of atmosphere, it wasn't a good fit for my sensibilities and my personality."

Now Couric is looking forward to being herself again and talking about the issues she feels are important. "Katie" premieres Monday, Sept. 10, on ABC.
