Kim Zolciak's Representative Denies Kandi Burruss' Claims

Kim Zolciak's representatives are speaking up after the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star's fellow cast member Kandi Burruss planned to sue the former for the 2009 song "Tardy for the Party."

Burruss, 36, co-wrote the song recorded by Zolciak, 34, and claims that her fellow cast member released and sold the song without obtaining the consent of the songwriter, according to Us Magazine reports. However, Mike Paul, who represents Zolciak recently spoke out about the claims in the lawsuit.

"The lawsuit has absolutely no merit," Paul told RadarOnline.com. "Kim's attorney and account have double and triple checked everything that she's done."

Paul questioned why Burruss was choosing to seek legal action years after the release of the song.

"The timing is extremely suspicious for a number of reasons," Paul told RadarOnline.com. "The song is almost four years old, why now?"

According to Paul, Zolciak paid her dues for the song.

"To date, Kim has written checks to Kandi and Don Vito in excess of $23,000," Paul told RadarOnline.com. "In fact, we believe that Kim may have overpaid a portion of their share to date based on the actual record sales."

Burruss has garnered Grammy Awards for her songwriting ability in the past and spoken out about not receiving money from Zolciak in a 2010 blog post.

"I hardly got anything from Tardy for the Party. That is the truth," Burruss wrote in a 2010 blog post, according to Us Weekly reports. "I am not mad about it. I really blame myself because I didn't handle my business correctly."

After the announcement was made that Burruss would take legal action against Zolciak, the 36-year-old songwriter tweeted about her apprehension concerning the matter.

"I'm not looking forward to it. I can already see its gonna be drama," Burruss tweeted March 11. "Arguing makes my stomach turn."
