Lady Gaga, Taylor Kinney News: Couple Jump Into Icy Lake for Charity Polar Plunge
Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Taylor Kinney, jumped into an icy Lake Michigan in Chicago for the Polar Plunge, an annual event which takes place in several cities across the United States to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics. The event was held on Sunday, March 1.
It was reported that the temperature in Chicago on Sunday was 31 degrees Fahrenheit, 1 degree below freezing. Light snow fell throughout the day, and Lake Michigan was a bracing 33 degrees.
Lady Gaga was sporting a blonde weave and wearing several items promoting Kinney's show, "Chicago Fire." In an Instagram photo posted by the singer before the Polar Plunge, the "Born this Way" singer can be seen wearing a season 2 "Chicago Fire" hoodie. After they arrived at the lake, she took off the garment to reveal a navy blue Chicago Fire Department t-shirt.

Kinney's co-stars David Eisenberg, Jon Seda, Brian Geraghty and Randy Flagler also participated in the Polar Plunge, as well as actor Vince Vaughn.
Kinney gave his fiancée a piggyback ride before plunging into the slushy waters of the lake, as seen in a video posted by NBC Chicago. While other female participants wore swimsuits, the singer opted for more coverage as she jumped into the lake while still wearing her shirt, dark pants and shoes. Kinney wore a pair of long swimming trunks for the plunge.
After the event, Lady Gaga posted more pictures of her and Kinney at the Polar Plunge.
My wig froze! Taylor gave me his hat I thought my wig was gonna freeze into and become one with the lake," she captioned one.
Another picture, which shows the singer on Kinney's back, was captioned, "Feels so good to do things for a good cause like the Special Olympics. It's great [to] donate money, but also great to donate a gesture of love for those who deserve to be showered with it."
Kinney and Lady Gaga started dating in 2011. They announced their engagement on Valentine's Day, and the singer appeared to be wearing the heart-shaped ring while taking the Polar Plunge.
