Lady Gaga's Grammys 2012 Black Fishnet Outfit Wows Fans

Lady Gaga, always one to shock, did not fail to impress fans at the 2012 Grammy Awards show, held Sunday, Feb. 12, when she arrived dressed in all black and her face covered in fishnet.

Although she ditched the red carpet at Sunday's show, the "Mother Monster" did don a brazen outfit, which Paul McCartney seemed find enchanting. Gaga's outfit, coupled with her kiss for McCartney, made her once again the spotlight of the awards show, although many argue that she carried a more somber, low key attitude this year.

The pop star sensation donned possibly one of her most bizarre outfits yet, blending futuristic empress with evil Disney Queen in a completely black ensemble consisting mostly of fake leather and lots of fishnet.

Her inch-long acrylic nails were covered in shiny black paint.

Lady Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, also sported a long black scepter with a golden orb on top, making her appearance resemble that of a dark queen's. This, coupled with pop star Nicki Minaj's questionable religious Grammy performance, had fans questioning if the blasphemy trend, as previously exemplified by Madonna in her 2006 "Confessions" tour, is back.

Entertainment blog Wet Paint argues that Gaga disappointed at this year's 54th annual Grammy Awards, saying she "got caught in the dominatrix fashion net."

Compared to other celebrities' outfits, Lady Gaga's was quite tame. Pop star Nicki Minaj dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and had her very own papal escort, and Russian Singer Sasha Gradiva's right arm was covered in machine guns.

Gaga has never shied away from dressing to impress. At the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, where she won the "Video of the Year" for "Bad Romance," the music artist wore a dress made completely out of red meat.

At last year's Grammys, Gaga arrived in a giant green egg, which was hoisted onto a wooden beam and carried by five men down the red carpet.

The Huffington Post stipulates that Gaga's more somber tone at this year's Grammy Awards, both in dress and behavior, was done purposefully as an homage to the late pop diva Whitney Houston, who passed away on Saturday in Beverly Hills.
