'Law & Order: SVU' Season 17 News: New Teaser Reveals SVU Team Figuring Out A Rape Case

The promo teaser for the highly anticipated first episode for 2016 of NBC's hit police-procedural drama TV series "Law & Order: SVU" Season 17 has finally been revealed and it offered a lot of disturbing hints pointing towards an educator who seems to like committing the dreaded crime of sexual abuse on minors.

The clip was posted over at YouTube and it opened up with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her crew in Special Victims Unit discussing the case of a teacher who likes to prey on young students.

Benson follows the case. However, they get wind of a new development that sends shivers down everyone's spine - there's actually two sexual predators in the same school and either one of them could be responsible for the disappearance of a young boy.

Scenes erupted with the LAPD rushing inside a house, probably looking for clues that could give the SVU team some needed information on the suspects. Perhaps it could be the abode of the victims. But either way, it appears that the case will disturb not only the police department but the whole community as well as the perpetrator could turn out to be the very person whom they trusted.

The aforementioned episode is called "Catfishing Teacher" and the synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic reads as follow:

"A high school student plans a clandestine hookup with his female teacher but ends up in a far more sinister situation."

Showrunner Warren Leight earlier told TVGuide that they will start off the new year with a chilling episode.

"We're going to start off the year new, for people who worry about Olivia, with the scariest episode of the season," the EP said, while adding that viewers will get to find the new lieutenant in a more pressing situation that will ultimately test her mettle.

"We're going to start out with a moment in which she drops her guard just for a moment and gets herself into a horrible, threatening situation," Leight teased. The after-effects of such actions, according to him, will have Olivia reeling for a considerable amount of time.

"Law and Order: SVU" Season 17 airs Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 on NBC.
