'Legends Of Tomorrow' Cast News: Jonah Hex To Be Played By Johnathon Schaech
"Legends of Tomorrow" has cast actor Johnathon Schaech in the role of Jonah Hex. The character, a ruthless Western antihero, is set to appear in the forthcoming superhero team-up series' 11th episode, with the possibility to recur after that.
In the DC comics, Hex is a decorated Civil War veteran and bounty hunter. With a disturbingly disfigured face and his own moral code, Hex is known as a dangerous man.
In the new DC Entertainment series, Hex is described as a "true legend of the Old West" and a "morally ambiguous gunslinger with a penchant for danger." The character, who battles gangs and outlaws in the Wild West, will encounter the Legends and when they arrive in the town of Salvation, he will warn them about the dangers that lurk within. Apart from his gunslinging skills, Hex will also, surprisingly, be quite knowledgeable about time travel.

"Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time-travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West," "Legends of Tomorrow" executive producer Marc Guggenheim said in a statement. "But if you're going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply must include Jonah Hex in it," he added. "We're thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television."
This will be Jonah Hex's debut in the DC live-action television universe. The DC comic book series character previously appeared in the 2010 film "Jonah Hex," with Josh Brolin playing the titular role.
Schaech is best known for his role in "That Thing You Do!" (1996) and "Hush" (1998). His recent TV credits include appearances in "Ray Donovan," "Quantico," "Star-Crossed, "Texas Rising," "Sleepy Hollow," and "The Client List."
"Legends of Tomorrow" debuts on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
