Lolo Jones Says Glory to God After Team USA Hurdlers Sweep Medals Without Her
When three Team USA hurdlers swept the 100 metres hurdles event at the Olympic games, Lolo Jones found confidence in God even though she wasn't able to participate in the event she has been working hard to qualify for.
Team USA hurdlers Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali and Kristi Castlin gave the United States its first sweep in the event by finishing first, second and third. Jones, the 34-year-old hurdler who placed fourth in the same event at the 2012 London Olympics, did not qualify for the 2016 Olympic games after a string of injuries.
She decided to joke about the matter on social media by posting a meme of cartoon character Homer Simpson backing away slowly into bushes.

"When you were the only USA hurdler that didn't get a medal in 2012, so they didn't sweep," she captioned the meme.
One person caught wind of Jones' comments and didn't find them very funny. Jones has often been the center of controversy for her social media jokes and one person used her meme as an example of why.
"You just go out of your way trying to dragged on here, don't you," the person responded to Jones' tweet.
However, the hurdler and bobsledder who previously competed in the Winter Olympics insisted that she her humor was evidence of her joy in the Lord.
"No, what I show is I have so much confidence God turns all things for His glory that allows me to have joy in lack," Jones responded to her critic.
Rollins, the gold medalist who did end up winning the 100 meter in Rio De Janeiro Brazil, gave God the glory after her team swept the event.
"I just kept God first and just continued to let Him guide me throughout the rounds," Rollins said in an NBC interview. "We formed a prayer circle this morning and we just let His presence come upon us."
The women prayed that God would "just help us come out here and continue to glorify Him and do the best that we can and that's what we did."
Rollins made it clear that God had a hand in her success and Olympic gold.
"I'm just so excited; we are blessed," she said. "I'm grateful to God."
