'Lucifer' Fox TV Series Mocks Donald Trump as 'Tyrant' Going to Hell

Fox's controversial TV series "Lucifer" aired an episode Monday night that portrayed President-elect Donald Trump as being sent to Hell to reside with Caligula and Stalin after he dies.

The Media Research Center's Newsbusters reports that in the episode, the character of Lucifer, based on Satan, names Trump alongside infamous dictators who were condemned to spend eternity in the "tyrant wing" of Hell.

"So, we can ... you know, talk about Caligula, Stalin, Trump. I mean, I know he's not dead, but he's definitely going," says British actor Tom Ellis in his portrayal of Lucifer.

"Lucifer" has drawn some controversy, with Entertainment Weekly describing the main character as "wickedly charming," TV Guide arguing that he is "compassionate" and "[not] so much evil as he is mischievous, carnal, and brutally honest," while Daily Beast describes Lucifer as "likeable" and "way too much of a good guy at times."

The conservative group One Million Moms launched a petition in 2015 calling on Fox to cancel "Lucifer" before the show aired, saying that the show "mischaracterizes" Satan and "mocks the Bible."

"The series will focus on Lucifer portrayed as a good guy, 'who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell,' the petition stated at the time.

"The program previews mischaracterize Satan, departs from true biblical teachings about him, and inaccurately portrays the beliefs of the Christian faith," the petition adds.

"By choosing to air this show, Fox is disrespecting Christianity and mocking the Bible."

Fox refused to cancel the series, however, and is currently airing the second season.

Some evangelicals, such as Eric Sapp, founding partner of the Eleison Group and executive director of American Values Network who supported Hillary Clinton in her bid to become the next president of the United States, argued that Trump's promise of helping conservatives win the Supreme Court if they voted for him was similar to Satan tempting Jesus Christ with power to rule over the world, if only Jesus would bow down to him.

"American Christians should not take a deal Jesus rejected," Sapp wrote in an op-ed for The Christian Post in September.

Trump's defeated Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, was also compared to Lucifer — by Trump himself.

Back in August, Trump claimed that Democratic primary challenger Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who later endorsed Clinton, "made a deal with the devil" by backing her. "She's the devil," Trump said of Clinton. The president-elect again called Clinton "the devil" during the second debate.

Evangelist Franklin Graham shot down the comparison in October, however, and said that Clinton is not the devil.

"Donald J. Trump has said Hillary Clinton was the devil, but I can assure you that's not the case. The devil is real. Hell is a real place. The Bible says Hell is a place of darkness, a place of eternal torment, a place of 'eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels' (Matthew 25:41)," Graham in a post on his Facebook page.
