Luke Bryan and National Anthem Don't Mix, Fans Say (VIDEO)

Singer Luke Byan has come under harsh criticism for his performance of the national anthem at the Major League Baseball's All-Star game. Bryan has admitted to checking his watch during the performance and writing some of the lyrics on his hand; he has apologized for the missteps and said it was an honor to perform.

"I just wanted to do my best. I promise it was from the heart," Bryan tweeted. "If I offended anyone with my approach I sincerely anthem it is an honor and my heart beats out of my chest. Being a part of the all-star game was amazing and I look forward to the next time I can perform the anthem."

While Bryan has received a lot of criticism for his performance, he has also received quite a bit of support from everyday fans and fellow singers.

"Luke did awesome on anthem," tweeted Cody Alan. "Love that he wanted to get it perfect—he's 1st class."

Country star Jo Dee Messina also affirmed her support for Bryan through Twitter.

"Hey @LukeBryanOnline they r talkin about ur Anthem. Been there. Chin up, friend! Good news is, they're talkin," she said.

It's definitely true that people are talking about Bryan's performance, though not everyone feels the way Messina does.

"Luke Bryan apparently needed to go all 8th grade crib sheet to sing them anthem! #Comeonman" tweeted Doug Gottlieb.

"Luke Bryan sings the national anthem the way I used to take geometry tests," joked Mike Rutherford.

Bryan's performance, however, is not likely to be as notoriously bad as that of others, including the 1990 performance of Roseanne Barr. During her act, Barr grabbed her genitals and screeched through the anthem, angering many fans who felt she acted with great disrespect.
