Lupe Fiasco's Inauguration Fiasco Causes Twitter Debate

Lupe Fiasco, 30-year-old Chicago rapper, was recently booted from performing at an inaugural event honoring Barack Obama after making comments that criticized the president.

Fiasco's performance at StartUp RockOn's inauguration celebration took place on Sunday night and resulted in the rapper being escorted off the stage by security during his performance. While performing an anti-war song, Fiasco announced that he did not vote for the Obama before being removed from the stage.

StartUp RockOn released a statement claiming that Fiasco was not escorted from the stage because of his political views, but because of the quality of his performance.

"Lupe Fiasco performed at this private event, and as you may have read, he left the stage earlier than we had planned," StartUp RockOn said in a statement. "But Lupe Fiasco was not 'kicked off stage' for an 'anti-Obama rant.' We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act."

While Fiasco's performance at the inaugural celebration was supposed to celebrate Obama's second term, his rants against the president left sponsors Hypervocal disappointment.

"Disappointed that an artist took opportunity to use an event celebrating innovation/startups to make a political statement," the news website tweeted. " #StartUpRockOn"

A number of people took to Twitter to express their feelings about Fiasco after he recently made headlines for the anti-war performance. One person said they do not agree with his views on Obama, but respected the courage that it took for him to do what he believed.

"Also whilst I don't share his views on the Obama administration, took some guts for @LupeFiasco to protest the way he did," the person tweeted.

Another person thought Fiasco being escorted off of stage during his performance violated his rights.

"Oh wait... Lupe Fiasco thrown off stage? What first amendment," the person questioned.

However, another person tweeted that there may be something wrong with the rapper's mental state.

"Lupe Fiasco needs to chill," the person tweeted. "He's going crazy now lol."
