Mark Sanchez Admits Tim Tebow Outworks Him in the Weight Room

Mark Sanchez, the New York Jets' starting quarterback, does not seem to be as concerned with backup QB Tim Tebow taking his spot as the mainstream media. In fact, Sanchez admitted that he cannot compete with Tebow in the gym.

Despite speculation about whether 25-year-old Sanchez would get along with Tebow, 24, the starting QB spoke about his respect for his newest teammate in an interview with Yahoo Sports! Sanchez admitted that although Tebow does get a great deal of attention, he could handle it.

"Tim is making whatever he makes, he's a good leader, a great person, a hard worker and he plays quarterback and he can do other stuff," Sanchez said. "Yeah, does he come with more attention than other players? Sure, but who cares? To me, if I can't handle that, I shouldn't play here."

Sanchez admitted that when his team first acquired Tebow, he saw how much stronger the backup QB was than him.

"After we traded for Tim, I'm in the weight room feeling good, feeling big, thick, really in shape. Then here comes Tim, the Incredible Hulk," Sanchez said. "I'm doing the pull ups with the extra weight and then he does them with two kettle bells and he just powers through them. He's just an ox. He was awesome and I'm like, 'OK, I'm not at that level.'"

Despite Tebow's strength in the weight room, Sanchez will help the new Jets addition with his passing skills at his upcoming "Jets West" camp. Sanchez has held the camp during the past two offseasons for his team's skill-position players.

Aside from Tebow, third-string quarterback Greg McElroy will be joined by teammates Jeremy Kerley, Patrick Turner, Scotty McKnight, Shonn Greene, Joe McKnight, John Conner, Dustin Keller, Jeff Cumberland and Josh Baker, according to the New York Daily News.
