Marshawn Lynch Injury News Latest: Seattle RB Close to Joining Practice
Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch has been absent for the last six regular season games for his team after undergoing surgery to repair an abdominal injury in November. After a month of recovery, he is now expected to be participating in the Seahawks practice this week.
According to head coach Pete Carroll, Lynch will be evaluated and that the first two days of the week will determine if he indeed is ready for full-contact practice. "We'll see how that goes. From what I understand, he has a chance if those days go back to back and he does well, that he might be in here for Wednesday," Carroll said.
Although he hasn't been seen with the team for the past couple of weeks, the 29-year-old actually has been busy with a separate rehabilitation procedure with private trainers. In essence, Carroll compared Lynch's status right now as similar to that of being in preseason mode. He needs to cope with his team's progress. But the coach is not worried about him doing his own stuff outside of the team's facility since the trainers the running back is working with are people who are fully acquainted with him.
Carroll added that they hopefully would want to see quick and better progress from Lynch so that he may get the opportunity to finally play against the Arizona Cardinals at the end of the week. "We have to see him playing football and see if everything translates," he said.
The last time Lynch played this season was in Week 10 and Thomas Rawls has been more than a worthy substitute before suffering an ankle injury in Week 14. For now, the Seahawks will have to rely on the likes of Fred Jackson, Christine Michael, and Bryce Brown to step up.
Aside from Lynch, the team also hopes that safety Kam Chancellor, defensive tackle Jordan Hill, and offensive tackle Russell Okung become eligible and healthy enough to play in the season-ending game.
