'Marvel's Luke Cage' News, Update: Marvel TV Head Offers Details; Season 1 To Kick Off Late Summer 2016?
Netflix and Marvel are getting ready to kick off their latest small screen offering "Luke Cage" Season 1 which features the acts of Mike Colter as the titular character.
While the other shows, "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" take place in New York City's Hell's Kitchen, this time around, the action will shift to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Harlem.
It is reported that executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker has already begun filming back in September 2015. The timetable suggests that the new show may become available for streaming on Netflix come November of this year. However, the latest item from the rumor mill suggested that the show's outing date could be earlier than what has already been expected.
According to Blackfilm.com, "Luke Cage" might premiere as soon as the late summer of 2016. Citing their "trusted sources," the publication pointed to the streaming service company's preference of releasing their comic book series shows with an interval of five to seven months in between shows.
The case in point is "Daredevil" Season 1, which came out April 2015. It was followed seven months after by "Jessica Jones" in November. As announced by the network, "Daredevil" Season 2 will come out on March 18. This means that a "late summer" release for "Cage" could be the most plausible date rather than the November 2016 roll out date.
Regardless of when this show comes out, it would be fitting for the viewers to know exactly what they should be expecting.
Giving the latest details about the TV show is Marvel TV Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb who recently sat down with the folks over at IGN.com.
"…it's very much a fugitive story that is about a man who is falsely imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. That's what grounds it. That's what makes it real," Loeb was quoted as saying.
The entertainment boss went on to reveal the aspect that makes "Luke" stand out from the rest.
"He's really strong, and he's got bulletproof skin. So I think those are the two things that go together, that really make it a very different kind of show," he said.
