Megyn Kelly Downplays Occupy Assault at UC Davis
News commentator Megyn Kelly caused public outrage after trying to downplay a viral video showing Occupy protesters being Pepper sprayed, by dismissing the weapon as a “food product.”
Kelly who recently appeared on Fox’s conservative program The O’Reily Factor, responded to what many say was an unprovoked assault by saying, “It’s like a derivative of real pepper. It’s a food product essentially.”
Thousands have now signed an online petition created by Change.org, that calls for Kelly to “consume as much of it as was sprayed on each protestor's face, in one sitting, on camera at Fox News.”

The video shows a group of University of California, Davis students calmly sitting in protest when Police LT John Pike aggressively sprays them with copious amounts of Pepper spray.
UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi recently made statements quoted in the LA Times, claiming the Police officers completely disregarded her orders saying, "We told the police to remove the tents or the equipment…We told them very specifically to do it peacefully, and if there were too many of them, not to do it, if the students were aggressive, not to do it."
An investigation is said to be underway to determine whether Pike used what critics are calling "unprovoked and unjustified force."
Reports also suggest that this is not the first time that Pike has acted inappropriately, indicating there was previously a separate incident involving another police officer.
Sources claim that some of the UC Davis pepper spray victims were admitted to hospital following the incident.
Kelly has not responded to the increasing outrage.
