Michael Jordan's New House Costs $2.8 Million, Has Personal Dock (PHOTOS)

Michael Jordan's new house in Cornelius, North Carolina reportedly cost the basketball legend $2.8 million. The house, bought Feb. 19, is the second property he now owns in the state to be close to his team, the Charlotte Bobcats.

Michael Jordan's new house is located just 22 miles north of where the Bobcats play in uptown Charlotte, but location wasn't the only reason for purchasing the home. The 12,310-square-foot mansion overlooks Lake Norman and comes with six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a pool, spa, a multi-level patio and its own private dock.

The "stunning panoramic lake views from almost every room" only drive up the exclusivity of the property, according to the listing. The 3-level manor is on the seventh hole of The Peninsula Golf Club, and also houses an entertainment area, a gymnasium, a game room, dance floor, and a sauna.

Although the Jordan Family Gift Trust bought the mansion for $2.8 million from the First Community Bank, according to WCNC.com, the hefty price tag could be considered a steal. The home was originally listed for $3,999,999.

"It's fantastic. He got a great buy on that house," Cornelius Commissioner Dave Gilroy told The Charlotte Observer.

The spacious estate, built in 1993, was formerly owned by drag race Doug Herbert, according to NBC Charlotte. He and his wife Ginger first listed the home for nearly $4 million in 2011, but did not sell at that price. In August of 2012, the bank foreclosed on the property, and it was put on the market for $3.49 million.

The mansion "is a great place to entertain friends and have people over," Herbert told The Observer.

Jordan also owns a condominium in the area. In addition to this recent real estate purchase, the basketball legend bought a 28,000-square-foot mansion in Jupiter, Fla. for $12.8 million last year. He also owns property in Utah and Highland Park, Ill., although the latter is currently on the market.
