Microsoft Reveals 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' Extended DLC Plans

Microsoft has officially announced details on the extended DLC plans for "Rise of the Tomb Raider," which is due to launch next month.

Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix will soon be releasing its "Tomb Raider" sequel, "Rise of the Tomb Raider" for Xbox 360 and Xbox One next month, and Microsoft has confirmed there will be a total of three major expansions to be released next year, which will include microtransactions.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" will soon launch a Season Pass, which will rope together the game's three main DLC packs, namely "Endurance Mode," which involves Lara Croft attempting to survive extreme conditions; "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch," with a new tomb to explore and an ancient terror to battle; and "Cold Darkness Awakened," where Lara pits herself against hordes of infected creatures.

The Season Pass will also include a lot of in-game content, giving players access to several outfits and weapons, as well as Expedition Cards that will be made available during the launch, up until four months afterwards.

While "Rise of the Tomb Raider" does not offer traditional multiplayer mode, players will be given the opportunity to extend single-player campaigns using some of the additional modes in the game, including Score Attack, which allows players to replay various game levels using a new set of rules; Remnant Resistance, with its replay of Hub spaces based on new goals and customizable missions; and Chapter Replay, which allows players to keep the equipment and skills they acquired during the initial play-through.

With Expedition Cards, players will also be able to create their own missions to challenge friends and other players to make it to the top of the game's leaderboards. Expedition Cards can be earned during gameplay or via in-game purchase using real money.

The three major DLC packs are expected to be released next year, while "Rise of the Tomb Raider" has already been confirmed for Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, on Q1 2016 for PC, and on Q4 2016 for PlayStation 4.
