Microsoft to Reveal Own Lumia Line Soon
Microsoft has made an announcement about unveiling their first fully-branded Windows Phone on Tuesday next week. Apparently, the phone is branded as a Lumia but will be the first one to drop the Nokia brand, instead taking up the Microsoft cloak.
The company has not revealed anything else but says that the device would deliver "the power of everyday mobile technology to everyone." This suggests that Microsoft is planning to release the new Lumia handset as a budget-smartphone.
Tuula Rytila, senior vice president of Microsoft's mobile marketing has said, "We are looking forward to unveiling a Microsoft Lumia device soon." However, the name change will not be rendering the Nokia Lumia line obsolete.

Microsoft acquired Nokia's mobile devices unit for $7.2 billion in April earlier this year, which included an 18-month period where the two companies were still allowed to work independently, thus the continuous releases of the Lumia line under Nokia's name.
Even while the Lumia was under the Nokia brand, Microsoft has been continuously pushed out its mobile platforms with its own hardware. The Surface tablets have been an example of Microsoft's continuous push for the Windows Phone software. The Surface line experienced some rough times but it seems that it's beginning to see some progress.
The company reported a revenue of $908 million with sales of the Surface tablet and it's hoping to see the same numbers with the new Lumia line of phones. Despite donning the Microsoft logo instead of Nokia's branding, the Lumia line of smartphones will continue to remain as entry-level devices.
