Miguel Cotto and Saul Alvarez Getting Big Money for November Fight

Miguel Cotto is going up against Saul Alvarez in the ring in two months with both fighters receiving millions for their anticipated fight.

WBC middleweight champion, Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto will soon be facing former IBF/WBC junior middleweight champ, Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez at the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino where Cotto is expected to receive $30 million and Alvarez $10 million for their Nov. 21 fight.

Holding the top spot in the WBC, Cotto holds a 40-win, 4-loss 33-KO boxing record. He earlier signed a three-fight agreement with Roc Nation Sports and is currently among sports management company's promoters.

The $30 million payday he is expected to make for the upcoming fight is on par with the money undefeated five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been earning for his Showtime/CBS contract fights.

Cotto told Opening Round in an interview he is expecting knock Alvarez down, having no apprehensions over the fight after having previously faced Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in the ring.

Alvarez, on the other hand, who is promoted by Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Productions, will be getting $10 million plus for his participation in the fight, the biggest payday he has seen so far in his career. The Mexican fighter has been in a total of 47 fights with a 45-win, 1-loss, and 32-KO record.

Alvarez, who previously lost to Mayweather in 2013, has bounced back with three consecutive victories against fellow Mexican Alfredo Angulo, Cuban Erislandy Lara, and American James Kirkland in the last two years.

The Cotto-Alvarez fight will be featured on HBO pay-per-view, with an expected 1 million PPV buys for the occasion.
