Miley Cyrus Quotes 'Forget Jesus,' Sparks Angry Twitter Reactions

Popstar and actress Miley Cyrus has stirred further controversy on Twitter after she tweeted a quote by theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss on the origins of matter, where he says "forget Jesus."

The quote, which Cyrus describes as "beautiful," reads:

"You are all stardust. You couldn't be here if stars hadn't exploded, because the elements (carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, all the things that matter for evolution) weren't created at the beginning of time. They were created in stars. So forget Jesus. Stars died so you can live."

Krauss, an advocate of scientific skepticism, included an afterword by atheist Richard Dawkins in his latest book, A Universe from Nothing: Why There is Something Rather Than Nothing, which seeks to explore the origin of the universe.

Although the former teen star did not elaborate on what exactly she finds beautiful about the quote, she has felt the anger of a number of her more than five million Twitter followers, who have questioned whether this might be a sign that she is turning her back on her Christian roots and embracing atheism.

Some of the angry fan tweets read:

"Sorry Miley but you can't deny Jesus exists, he saved you, he saved all of us. He had blessed you every single day of your life," wrote Robsten Cyrus.

"This is why Miley's tweet made me mad. Weird to see someone say all this, then say 'Forget Jesus' a few years later," shared Kristina Corbett, referring to a YouTube video of Cyrus winning an award at the Teen Choice 2008 awards, where the first person she thanked was God, while pointing to the sky.

"I don't get it, first Miley goes around preaching that God accepts gays and everyone's equal, then she tweets 'forget Jesus' like wtf?" added a user named Gabby.

Back in July 2011, the pop singer tweeted a photo of a tattoo in support of gay marriage – an equal sign on her finger, along with the comment "All LOVE is equal."

She later added, "@MileyCyrusLuver where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn't. GOD is the only judge honey. 'GOD is love.'"

Cyrus' Twitter page suggests sympathies towards another faith group – the singer has a quote from Buddha at the top of her account, which reads: "Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are, it solely relies on what you think."
