Miley Cyrus Urges Dad Billy Ray to Avoid Being 'Like Bruce Jenner' on Reality TV
Miley Cyrus discouraged her father Billy Ray Cyrus from inking a reality television series deal because she does not want to see the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer embarrass himself "like Bruce Jenner," according to reports this week.
The 21-year-old singer first rose to fame on the Disney Channel, but Cyrus is now a leading musical artist. However, the "Wrecking Ball" singer has been adamant with her family about staying off of reality television despite lucrative and numerous deals with networks such as Bravo and Lifetime, RadarOnline reported on Wednesday.
"Billy Ray has turned down that must be his sixth offer in the last four years because Miley has been very strict with her parents about not doing them, even though they have been offered a fortune by all the big players, including Bravo, Lifetime and E, to open up their home to cameras," a member of Miley's team revealed.
Billy Ray is best known for his number-one country music song "Achy Breaky Heart," but the 52-year-old has also tried his hand at acting. In addition to Miley, Billy Ray and wife Leticia "Tish" share Noah and Braison Cyrus, as well as Tish's children from a previous relationship, Brandi and Trace. Television networks are very interested in having the entire family appear on reality television, but Miley steadfastly refuses.
"Miley would much rather do a Christmas special or a concert at the Hollywood Bowl with her dad rather than watch him embarrass himself like Bruce Jenner on TV every week," the source at RadarOnline.com continued.
However, since Miley is no longer linked to her parents financially, Billy Ray and Tish are growing more interested in the lucrative reality television universe. Fortunately, the family has come to an agreement.
"Ultimately, she was very thankful they came to an understanding together that it would be a bad idea," the insider said. "Miley is a student of the mistakes of the people who have come before her, and she always thought that Britney Spears' decision to do a reality show [2005's "Britney and Kevin: Chaotic"] was the beginning of her downfall."
"For now, Miley doesn't want herself or her parents becoming reality TV bottom feeders," RadarOnline's report added. "Billy Ray agrees with her and it seems to have helped their relationship."
