Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood Team Up for 2014 Billboard Awards

Miranda Lambert and fellow country music superstar Carrie Underwood are set to duet at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards later this month.

Each songstress have a slew of hit songs and awards to their names, but Lambert and Underwood will join forces on May 18 in Las Vegas in order to debut a brand new song "Somethin' Bad," Billboard announced on Wednesday. The track is off of Lambert's upcoming album, "Platinum," which hits stores June 3.

"I'm a huge Carrie Underwood fan," Lambert told Billboard. "'Somethin' Bad' is a meshing of our styles and there aren't many female collaborations in our format, so I'm really excited to be debuting it on the Billboard Awards."

Although Lambert is now thrilled to be singing alongside Underwood, she said that asking the "Blown Away" singer to do the duet was "nerve-wracking."

"Singing with Carrie Underwood is very, very intimidating," Lambert explained. "I'll be honest. She is an amazing vocalist. Asking her to do this was nerve-wracking. I sent her an e-mail, a long, blabbing e-mail about if she wanted to sing on the record, it could be cool, but maybe she didn't want to, and it she liked the song, but she didn't have to like the song… and when I sent it, I thought, 'This sounds ridiculous.'"

In addition to joining Lambert on "Somethin' Bad," Underwood may also appear in the music video for the song.

"I'm hoping that she'll come to the dark side and blow something up and set something on fire in the video," Lambert added.

This year's Billboard Music Awards will take place live at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 18 at 8 p.m. EST.

Meanwhile, just as Lambert was announced as a performer at the Billboard Awards, news recently broke that the "Over You" singer led this year's CMT Awards nominations. She is up for two individual awards for her video "Automatic," two for collaborating with her girl group the Pistol Annies and her husband Blake Shelton, and two more for singing with Keith Urban on his song "We Were Us." The 2014 CMT Awards will be held in Nashville, Tenn. on June 4.
