Miranda Lambert Cries at ACM: 'I Was Rooting for Carrie Underwood,' She Says

Despite being named female vocalist of the year during the Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony on Sunday night, Miranda Lambert was in tears over her win.

The country singer, who has been named Female Vocalist of the Year for the past three consecutive years, was in tears on Sunday night after accepting her fourth award. Lambert suggested that the win seemed unbelievable because it seems that at anytime she might fall off the horse.

"I'm a pessimist," Lambert, 29, told People magazine after the show, "so I'm always like, when is the other shoe going to drop? It's over– my primetime is done. But your peers vote for you and believe in you, especially as a songwriter."

Lambert vocalized that her biggest competition was probably Grammy award winner Carrie Underwood. In fact, even Lambert was rooting for Underwood to win.

"I mean– I really, truly was rooting for Carrie. She really, truly is an inspiration to me as a vocalist, and I love her and I really wanted her to win tonight," Lambert told the magazine. "She can sing any one of us under the table."

Overall, Lambert was the winner on the most awards on Sunday night. She also took the prize for Single Record of the Year as artist, and Song of the Year, as artist and composer, for "Over You." Lambert's husband, Blake Shelton, who helped to compose the song, shared the award. Shelton also co-hosted the show alongside first time host Luke Bryan.

Male Vocalist of the Year went to Jason Aldean, who won the category for the first time. In 2005, he was named Best New Artist. Sunday's award was one of two for the artist who also won an award for Vocal Event of the Year, with Luke Bryan and Eric Church, all three who sang "The Only Way I Know."

The most prestigious award of the night, Entertainer of the Year, went to Luke Bryan.
