'Mortal Kombat X' Enhanced Online Beta Coming, To Feature New And Improved Online Play

"Mortal Kombat X" fans are in for a treat as developer NetherRealm Studios has prepared something for them that will make their gaming experience better than ever. According to a report by Xbox Achievements, NetherRealm announced that the fighting game's online mode will receive an overhaul. It will also start the registration for an "enhanced online beta" on January 19.

As detailed in Game Rant, anyone who has played the game online for at least an hour is free to enroll. Unfortunately, gamers should take note that not everyone who registers will have the chance to join the beta testing immediately, as more players will get added over time. Those who are interested can head over to the game's official website to sign up.

Game Spot noted that community manager Tyler Lansdown revealed that the beta will feature "new and improved online play." They aim to make the online game as first-rate as the rest of the fighting genre and they can do that by "mov[ing] away from the dynamic input latency model towards a model that preserves the feel of an offline game more accurately while playing online and maintains a consistent input response."

To better understand the new netcode and the beta for the completely overhauled multiplayer, Cinema Blend mentioned that NetherRealm has released a video. It revealed that only four characters will be featured during the beta and that includes Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Jacqui Briggs.

Aside from that, it also explained that the characters will permit players to get in some play time. Through that, they will be able to judge how well the online multiplayer performs in terms of how it deals with input latency, lag, hit detection and network response timing. NetherRealm is aiming to put up an online game that will be able to catch up with the fast pace of "Mortal Kombat X's" gameplay.

According to the Xbox Achievements report, the beta will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users.
