Most Desired Electronics for Christmas 2011: iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone 4S
Apple currently holds the top three spots with its products for children’s most desired gifts for Christmas 2012, including the iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone 4S.
Nielson recently performed a survey measuring the most desired consumer electronic gifts among children between the ages of 6 and 12 and found Apple solidified its brand in the minds of America’s youth.
The iPad was the most desired device with 44 percent of children expressing their interest in the tablet. Coming in second was the iPod Touch with 30 percent of children wanting what is arguably the world’s most popular media device.

On an adult’s list, the third device, iPhone 4S, would probably rank No 1. However, children still showed much interest in the iPhone with 27 percent of kids wanting to get their hands on the handset this coming holiday season.
Other popular devices among children trailed behind Apple’s best, including the Nintendo DS/ DSi/ DS Lite, a Nintendo 3DS, Kinect for Xbox 360, an Xbox 360 console and a Nintendo Wii.
Nielsen also included general terms for devices, such as a smartphone, computer, and television set; although, they did not receive as much attention as Apple’s products.
This seems to show the success of Apple’s branding by making their products easily identifiable with all age groups, especially the one used in the survey.
Nielsen also analyzed the interests of consumers who were 13 and older and again. The iPad topped the list of that age group. Unfortunately, for Apple, the iPod Touch and iPhone were lower on that list with computers and e-readers being the second and third most desired electronics among young teenagers.
This is the second year in a row that the iPad was the most desired consumer electronic among children between the ages of 6 and 12. However, a computer was the most desired device for kids’ ages 13 and older.
