NASCAR News and Rumors: Building International Presence Eyed by the Stock Car Racing Organization

NASCAR races have become one of the most important past times in America, but unlike other sporting events and industries, it has stuck to its domestic audience all throughout its existence. Recently, however, the stock car racing organization revealed its plan of building an international presence that will take the sport to a wider audience and prominence.

According to reports, though there still are no specific details on how to go about scheduling races outside the United States, what they want is to create something that would encourage the nurturing and training of international drivers who eventually will dream of driving in the United States. According to executive vice president and chief racing development officer Steve O'Donnell in an interview with Reuters, the concept is pretty similar to that of the NBA. "The NBA model is a great one. You have a local league in a particular region or country but the ultimate goal is to play in the NBA," he said, referring to how players from professional basketball leagues abroad and in the United States dream of one day playing in the biggest stage, which is the NBA.

But the vision does not include exporting NASCAR's most popular racing series, the Sprint Cup. At least that's the reality as of the moment since it's pretty difficult considering all the factors involved like the willingness of competing teams and their sponsors, logistics, the racetracks, and others.
