Nazi Gold Train Update: Search Teams Disagree on Discovery
70 years ago, a Nazi train never reached its destination, and according to a team of treasure hunters, it has finally been found. However, a team of scientists disagree.
According to CNN, the treasure hunters remained firm on their previous claim that they came across evidence that a tunnel in Poland houses the lost Nazi train carrying loads of gold. During a news conference on Tuesday, treasure hunter Piotr Koper said, "We have a train and a short tunnel."
However, scientists from Krakow University of Science and Technology, who happen to have the same purpose as Koper and his crew, said, "We may have a tunnel, but there is no train."

The train in question was reportedly last seen as it left the grounds of Wroclaw, an area which was part of Germany in 1945. It was supposed to reach Walbrzych but probably due to the war, it never touched down. Local townspeople believe that it went missing by the end of World War II. This was the time when Adolf Hitler's reign was conquered and the Soviet Red Army started to infiltrate the Nazi Germany camps.
A lot of rumors have revolved around the lost train and one of the more common speculations is that it may have been stuck in one of the numerous railways in Walbrzych. After the war, the railways were sealed off, and as the stories go, the train may have been left inside one of the railways.
The treasure hunters and scientists used ground-penetrating radar, but the scientists used other tools including magnetic and earth penetrating tools to further prove their point that there is a hollow tunnel with no train.
Meanwhile, the hunters are seeking 10 percent of the value of the gold that the lost train carried, and according to officials, a tenth of the gold "could be worth well over $1 million."
Aside from the sparkling gold, the train may have carried other weaponry such as bombs. It also poses a greater danger to the community if the train was really trapped in an underground tunnel. Authorities say a buildup of methane is possible, and if an explosion occurs, people might be at risk.
