NBA Trade Rumors: Cavs GM Insists Kevin Love Not on the Trading Block
The Golden State Warriors – San Antonio Spurs game yesterday became a trending topic in all of basketball, but the outcome was not the one everyone expected, with the reigning champs blowing the Spurs out in embarrassing fashion. And while practically everyone thinks those two are the best teams in the NBA right now, some are still looking at the Cleveland Cavaliers to be deserving of that same recognition.
In reality, though, the Cavs will never be as good as the Spurs or the Warriors if they don't fix what's broken in Ohio. The front office just fired their head coach, and everyone's saying it's on LeBron James. Less than a week after David Blatt's departure, another issue has popped out — Kevin Love being traded.
Or at least that is what the evil Internet is telling us. As for Cavs general manager David Griffin, there is no truth to such rumors and that the team is not involved in any kind of trade negotiations pertaining to Love. "We've never once put together an offer involving Kevin, nor have we taken a call on an offer for Kevin," Griffin said. He also defended Love's value to the team, saying that they never will become a better team than last year if they let go of him.

The three-time All-Star came to Cleveland in the hope of building a big three comprising superstar James, point guard Kyrie Irving, and him. However, the experiment has only led them to the NBA Finals last season, coming up two games short of the crown. But that's not really the reason why there always seems to be talk about Love getting shipped somewhere else. It may be more on how James is responding to the kind of player he is. While he's averaging close to 16 points a game this season, that number is actually the lowest for him since the 2009-20110 season and even his shooting percentage had gone down.
He signed a $112 million contract for five years last summer and became trade eligible last Jan. 15. When Blatt was fired, the team was called for a meeting and some players and staff members thought it was about Love getting traded. But it wasn't. The question is why would members of the team speculate that Love's on his way out? Is there a reason to think that way?
