NBC Olympics Coverage of Parade of Nations 'Ruined' by Commercials, Commentary?

U.S. viewers who tuned into NBC's coverage of the 2012 Olympics in London Friday night were displeased by the commentary provided by Bob Costas and felt the constant commercial breaks "ruined" the much-anticipated "Parade of Nations" segment.

"Memo to NBC: New #openingceremony rule: No commercials during Parade of Nations. Let us enjoy the geography lesson w/o the network promos," tweeted @edatpost.

Elizabeth Gunther (@scifigirl1986) added: "Seriously. I'm all for politics, but can't we leave them out of the parade of nations? Pakistan may not be our friend, but come on."

Others found Costas sharing of current events with respect to various nations to be a turn-off as well.

"Why all the political, world news during he parade of nations," questioned Lee Mac ‏(@lee6655).

Some viewers found the so-called "Americentric" commentary offensive, as Twitter user @retconning shared: "I hate the Americentric commentary for the Parade of Nations. It's gross and embarrassing."

Twitter user ‏@grandeur agreed with that sentiment, sharing: "The NBC hosts are so offensive/insulting/unprofessional about the Parade of Nations."

Leo Thomas McGarry (@LeoMcGarry) agreed with that assessment, tweeting: "NBC's commentary on the Parade of Nations consists largely of bad mouthing the countries marching in. Did they have Mitt (Romney) write the script?"

Some viewers found it good news that Bob Costas thought the Parade of Nations was moving too quickly, perhaps providing little chance for more commentary.

"Bob Costas complained that the Parade of Nations is going too fast for them to commentate. Um, we're ok with this dude," wrote ‏@therealberkie.

There were others, however, who found the NBC commentary of the Olympics Parade of Nations informative.

As Twitter user @mrsufodike shared, "Love watching the parade of Nations, I learn so much about each country!!"
